FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ A woman's suspicion that the man she lives with was having an affair led to the discovery of a hidden camera and thousands of pictures and videos of her in a bathroom and bedroom, police said.
Matthew Bordeaux, 48, used the camera that was concealed inside an electrical wall socket adapter to take pictures of the woman he lived with for seven years, according to a Sunrise police arrest report. The report did not indicate the nature of their relationship but says Bordeaux and the woman live together "as a family."
The woman, whose identity was not disclosed by police, found the camera in the bedroom she shared with Bordeaux after finding pictures of herself on a household computer that they both use, the report said.
According to police, the woman was searching the computer because she thought Bordeaux was cheating. She found the pictures inside a computer folder in his "profile" that, at the time, was not password protected.
The woman told investigators that when she, Bordeaux and her mom moved from Coral Springs to Sunrise, Bordeaux gave her the wall socket to use, saying it was "too expensive" to leave behind. A memory card on the device allowed Bordeaux to transfer the images to a computer, police said.
A search of the computer turned up more than 2,500 photo and video files going back to December, 2016, from Coral Springs and Sunrise, showing images of the woman in her bathroom and bedroom, the arrest report said.
Bordeaux was arrested Sunday and charged with video voyeurism.
During a court hearing Monday he was ordered held in Broward's jail on bonds totaling $10,000.
