Florida woman accused of leaving two children in car that caught fire while she was shoplifting

A woman from Florida has been charged after allegedly leaving her children unattended in a car that caught fire while she went shoplifting in a mall.

Alicia Moore, 24, parked her car outside Dillard’s department store at Ovideo Mall on May 26.

Moore and an unknown man were seen shoplifting in the store a short time later.

After about an hour, Moore left Dillard’s to see her car engulfed in flames. Bystanders rescued the children from the vehicle.

Both kids were taken to hospital and one suffered first degree burns “to her face and ears”.

Moore has been charged with aggravated child neglect for allegedly allowing children who could not care for themselves alone inside the vehicle.

The cause of fire is unknown. Police said it’s unlikely the children would been injured if Moore “was not being neglectful.”

Moore was charged with arson because the fire occurred while she was allegedly committing a felony, the arrest report said.
