Florida (4-0) vs. Towson (3-1) Game Preview
Why Towson Will Win
This isn’t a total pushover of a Towson team. It beat the same Citadel team that got by Georgia Tech, and it finally lost its first game of the year with an overtime game against Villanova last week.
QB Tom Flacco – Joe’s brother – leads a dangerous offense that’s averaging 40 points per game, doesn’t turn the ball over, and is fantastic at balancing out the offense. Flacco is the leading rusher along with a decent year throwing the ball, and he’ll force the Gator secondary to try.
Florida’s pass defense has come up with seven picks so far, but it’ll give up yards and it can be dinked and dunked on. The Tigers are great at keeping the chains moving, but …
Why Florida Will Win
Flacco isn’t that great.
The Tigers don’t care much about controlling the clock or time of possession, and they might never have the ball. The defense is miserable on third downs, and the Gators should be able to pound and pound some more, convert on easy plays to move the chains, and always have the ball.
On the other side, the defensive front has to keep on getting into the backfield. It hasn’t been able to keep up the pace after generating ten sacks in the opener, but the defensive front is still living in the backfield. It’ll get too Flacco.

What’s Going To Happen
Expect more Emory Jones.
This is the game to get Kyle Trask more time and seasoning before dealing with Auburn next. Florida is paying half a million for the tune-up, but Towson is just strong enough to battle for a bit.
This is about finding a bit more offensive explosion and getting the Gator quarterbacks more work, and that won’t be a problem. This will be over by halftime with Trask coming up with a sharp day, and backup Jones getting in some meaningful work.
