Florida State defensive end Josh Sweat has joined his teammates in Louisville ahead of Saturday's top-10 matchup, his father told the Orlando Sentinel.
Sweat's father, William Washington, said he does not know the particulars on the injury his son sustained on the last play of practice Thursday, but he was assured the injury was not serious.
"If it was something serious, we would be in Tallahassee," Washington said Friday afternoon.
"He said he hit it, it hurt, and it felt funny."
Washington said he does not know how much Sweat will play against the Cardinals, but he will dress for the game.
"He did not seem too concerned, so I don't feel too concerned," Washington said.
Washington said after Sweat was treated by FSU's training staff, he enjoyed a rare treat: a meal from McDonalds.
"He got to eat McDonalds, so he was happy about that," Washington said.
As a senior in high school, Sweat dislocated his left knee and suffered a torn ACL. He recovered to play all 13 games as a freshman last season.
Sweat's injury could have been another hit to FSU's defense, which saw star safety Derwin James suffer a torn meniscus during last week's blowout victory over Charleston Southern.
James had surgery Monday, and is expected to miss at least 5-7 weeks, Jimbo Fisher said earlier in the week.
Sweat's injury was not addressed during Fisher's final meeting with media Thursday before departing for Louisville.
FSU's defensive line _ featuring senior end DeMarcus Walker, third-year tackles Derrick Nnadi and Demarcus Christmas _ could turn to players like junior Jacob Pugh and true freshman Brian Burns if Sweat is limited at all against Louisville.
