Three people are fighting for life after six pedestrians were shot near the NFL game in Jacksonville.

The six victims, aged between 20 and 70, were wounded after a gunman opened fire from the passenger side of a vehicle just blocks away from a stadium in Florida on Sunday.

Three of the six were in a critical condition after the shooting, which took place at around 12.35pm on A Philip Randolph Boulevard close to the TIAA Bank Field stadium.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said no arrests have been made and issued a picture of the suspect vehicle in the area, saying it was a silver or grey four-door sedan.

Houston Texans won their fourth consecutive game in the 20-7 defeat of the Jaguars on Sunday afternoon.

Local police said the shooting had no impact on the game.

Speaking on Twitter, Florida Governor Rick Scott said: “Just spoke with Sheriff Mike Williams about the shooting in Jacksonville.

“I offered any state resources they may need. Our law enforcement officers are working hard to keep people safe."

Ron Lendvay, director of investigations for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, said the car had at least two occupants and immediately fled the area after the shooting.

Five men and one woman were injured, with five of them being rushed to hospital by paramedics while the sixth person travelled in a private vehicle.

The shooting happened while the victims were on the pavement next to Maytag Coin Laundry.

Firefighters were pictured spraying down large patches of blood on the pavement outside.
