Florida’s secretary of state, Michael Ertel, resigned Thursday after a Tallahassee newspaper obtained photos of him wearing blackface and shared them with Gov. Ron DeSantis, who appointed Ertel to the role.
Details: The photos were taken in 2005 while Ertel was serving as Seminole County supervisor of elections, and reportedly show him posing as a Hurricane Katrina victim at a Halloween party. Ertel would not comment on the record about the incident.
