Florida schedules home-and-home football series with NC State

GAINESVILLE, Fla. _ The Florida Gators continued to beef up their non-conference schedule, adding NC State to their 2026 and 2032 slates.

The Gators first would travel to Raleigh, N.C., to face the Wolfpack in six years, with NC State scheduled to visit the Swamp six seasons later.

UF and NC State have met in football 14 times, dating to a 12-6 win by the Wolfpack in 1927. The Gators lead the series 9-4-1, their last win a 27-10 decision during the 1992 Gator Bowl.

The series is the latest in UF athletic director Scott Stricklin's efforts to improve the non-conference schedule.

The 2019 Wolfpack missed out on a bowl game for the first time in five seasons. While NC State is generally a middle-of-the-pack ACC team, it is an upgrade on Gators' current non-conference fare. Other than the annual matchup with Florida State, the 2020 non-conference seasons features visits from FCS foe Eastern Washington and FBS lightweights South Alabama and New Mexico State.

NC State also is a regional opponent, unlike most of the non-conference series UF recently entered _ Utah (2022, 2023), Cal (2026, 2027), Colorado (2028, 2029) and Texas (2030, 2031). The Gators will face Miami in 2024 and 2025.
