Florida safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson drawing interest from Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals do not have a big need at safety for the upcoming season, but they do need depth and there will be an opening in the starting lineup after 2019. As such, it makes sense for the team to be looking at the position in the NFL draft.

One player who has their attention is Florida safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.

According to Draftanalyst.com’s Tony Pauline, the Cardinals “are showing a lot of interest” in him.

At his pro day, he improves his vertical leap and broad jump. He is 5-11 and 210 pounds. He ran the 40 in 4.48 seconds at the combine.

In 2018, he had four interceptions, three sacks and nine tackles for loss as well as 71 total tackles.

He is versatile as a safety, able to play multiple roles.

He becomes yet another name to watch as the NFL draft unfolds next month, especially probably starting with the third round.
