It has been a wild ride for Ohio State recruiting over the past several months, to say the least. While the Buckeyes have seemed to be humming on the offensive side of the ball, defensive recruiting just can’t seem to find its footing.
Even with OSU leading the way with what is currently the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, it’s the offense that is carrying the weight at this point. And recent defensive losses on the recruiting trail haven’t helped matters at all. Losing out on the likes of Troy Bowles, Tackett Curtis, and most recently Caleb Downs leaves the coaching staff looking for who might be next to round out the 2023 class.
Well, things might get worse before it gets better. Florida insider, Corey Bender has now given a prediction that current Ohio State cornerback commitment Dijon Johnson will flip to the Gators.

Johnson committed to the Buckeyes back in April of this year but is a Tampa, Florida native, so it wouldn’t be inconceivable that he’d desire to be closer to home. He is the No. 10 ranked cornerback in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings..
Of course, nothing is ever set in stone until a player puts pen to paper, but this certainly doesn’t look good. The “experts” have been wrong before, but it seems one would want to have a good deal of confidence before making a prediction like this.
Should Johnson decide to have a change of heart, Ohio State will still have Calvin Simpson-Hunt and Kayin Lee as committed corners. But another loss on the recruiting trail may be cause for concern in Columbus.
