Florida QB Kyle Trask declares for 2021 NFL draft

Kyle Trask’s tenure with the Florida Gators has come to an end.

The redshirt senior quarterback announced his intention to forego his remaining collegiate eligibility and declare for the 2021 NFL draft in a video he posted to Twitter on Thursday.

Trask’s announcement comes just a day after a disappointing performance against Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl, in which he threw three interceptions and no touchdowns in a 55-20 loss.

Despite ending his collegiate career on a sour note, Trask was one of the best quarterbacks in the nation in 2020. The Heisman finalist led the FBS with 4,125 passing yards and 43 touchdowns in the regular season, throwing just five interceptions in the process. Topping the 400-yard mark in five games, Trask broke out and improved considerably from his up-and-down 2019 campaign.

Though unlikely to be selected early in the first round due to a lack of top-notch arm strength and athletic ability, Trask has impressive accuracy, toughness, and an ability to scan the field. He could sneak into the latter half of the first round, but he appears more likely to be selected on Day 2.
