College football is just moments away from kicking off in Orlando with Florida and Miami to begin the 2019 season.
With that being said, the UGA Wire put together a list of expert predictions for tonight’s slate of games.
Take a look below!
Florida vs. Miami (Orlando)
Jackson Fryburger: Miami 27, Florida 24
Though the popular pick in this game has been Florida, I really think the Gators’ lackluster offseason is going to have an impact in this game. I am still not a believer in Feleipe Franks and do not see the hype being built around this program yet. Aside from the LSU game and a consolation bowl win, the Gators did not really provide that many impressive wins last season.
With that being said, I am really liking the upset pick tonight. Miami was in Florida’s shoes last season against LSU and ended up in the Pinstripe Bowl. The year before, Florida was playing Michigan in Arlington and didn’t even make a bowl game.
In addition, the Hurricanes have won 7 of their last 8 contests with the Gators and own the all-time series 29-26.
Joe Vitale: Miami 20, Florida 17
The Gators come out slow after a horrible offseason, but get things together late in the game. However, they will not have enough offense to dig them out of their hole against this Hurricane defense.
Jackson Stone: Florida 21, Miami 10
I think Florida’s defensive talent will overwhelm the hurricanes in what will be a relatively close game.
James Morgan: Florida 28, Miami 17
Miami’s offense struggles and Florida scores a pick six. Close in the first half due to Miami’s defense but UF pulls away
Henry Sillen: Florida 28, Miami 17
The Gators start off their season with a solid win spearheaded by their defensive line play against a weak Miami o-line.
College football is back! Enjoy the game everybody!
