A Florida man has been arrested for shoplifting just after buying a private island for several million dollars.
Andrew Lippi has been accused of stealing roughly $300 worth of products from a department store in Key West, which he has denied.
The charges, announced by the Key West Police Department, acme just days after Mr Lippi reportedly bought Thompson Island off of Key West for $8m.
Among the items Mr Lippi has been accused are LED light bulbs, and a $55 Hamilton Beach coffee maker.
Mr Lippi was said to have replaced the coffee maker with a “much older coffee maker”, before then returning it for a full refund.
He also has been accused of being a different, $150 coffee maker, and then returned just the box for a full refund.
Police say that employees at the Kmart shopping centre noticed that the box did not have a coffee maker inside, and that the machine had been replaced with a basketball.
