ORLANDO, Fla. _ Orlando Oak Ridge basketball star Emmitt Williams was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexual battery and false imprisonment, according to an Orange County arrest affidavit.
Williams, 19, is accused of visiting a friend's apartment on Oct. 10 and forcing her to have sex despite her repeated protests, according to the affidavit.
The woman sent text messages to another friend recounting the events before contacting the Orlando Police Department. During an interview with detectives the friend exchanged text messages with Williams, who acknowledged the woman "said no to having sexual intercourse with him, however, he ignored her and continued to having sex with her," according to the affidavit.
Williams remained in the Orange County jail late Wednesday afternoon.
The 6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward moved to Orlando last summer as a member of the Each 1 Teach 1 travel team, and enrolled at Oak Ridge after starring at Lehigh High School of the Fort Myers area as a freshman and at IMG Academy of Bradenton as a sophomore and junior.
Williams is rated No. 3 on ESPN's list of Florida Class of 2018 basketball prospects behind two other Orlando players: No. 1 Anfernee Simons, who finished his four-year high school career last season for Edgewater but reclassified to 2018 as a prep school player for IMG Academy; and No. 2 Nassir Little, a 6-6 senior for Orlando Christian Prep.
Williams recently visited Oregon and LSU. He had scholarship offers from Florida, Miami, Florida State, Duke, Kansas and numerous other programs.
