Florida dog owner arrested for punching, tackling dog 'Thanos'

ORLANDO, Fla. _ A Florida man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he was caught on video punching and tackling his dog, according to Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Joshua Ray Schlotmann, 28, of Lehigh Acres was arrested and charged with aggravated animal cruelty, inflict pain, torture, serious injury or death to an animal, LCSO said.

Schlotmann was seen punching his dog, Thanos, three times in the face after pinning it to the ground, the events of which were captured by a neighbor's Ring doorbell video camera, LCSO said.

LCSO caught wind of the incident after the video was posted online. Deputies arrived at Schlotmann's 17th Street home to speak with him Sunday. He was later arrested.

"Not here. Not now. Not ever," stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. "I'll keep throwing these abusers into jail until they get the message that I won't stand for it!"

Thanos was taken by Lee County Domestic Animal Services and remains in its care.
