When Florida bounces back, it does so historically. After a crushing loss in extra innings to start off the men’s College World Series against LSU on Saturday, the Gators put up unreal numbers in the second game of the series to tie it up, and the team etched its name into the history book in the process.
Florida broke the record for most runs in a CWS game on Sunday when the squad tallied an absurd 24 runs. Notre Dame held the previous record with 23 runs against Northern Colorado in 1957. Arizona State tied the record against Oklahoma State in ’84.
The Gators were down 3–1 going into the third inning but exploded for six runs, including a grand slam from Ty Evans. The Tigers would only score one more run in the ninth inning while Florida did whatever it wanted at the plate on the way there, winning 24–4 for the all-time mark.

It was the most runs in a CWS game since 2011 and was the first time there have ever been five home runs at Charles Schwab Field. The Gators combined for 23 hits and tallied six home runs when it was all said and done. Evans and Jac Caglianone both hit two home runs each and Wyatt Langford went 5-for-5 at the plate. He also hit a home run.
