What’s Going To Happen
Considering both teams lost to Marshall, this is all but an elimination game in the Conference USA East race.
FAU bounced back from its loss to the Thundering Herd to steamroll Old Dominion, and WKU lost its big battle last week in Huntington. Both teams will end up going bowling, but the winner is bowl eligible and the loser will have a wee bit of a fight to get that sixth win – both still have to face Southern Miss.
The WKU defense continues to be fantastic. It’s the second-best in Conference USA statistically – and it has played someone, unlike No. 1 UAB. The run defense is good, the secondary has been great, and now it gets an FAU offense that’s finding its groove with 41 points or more in four of their last six games.
It’ll come down to turnovers. FAU is fantastic when it comes to turnover margin, and WKU isn’t. WKU doesn’t score enough if FAU gets up early.
Lane Kiffin’s team will come through on the road with two extra takeaways that will be just enough to survive.
