Florian Lejeune's Newcastle United exit confirmed as French defender joins Alaves

Newcastle United have completed the sale of Florian Lejeune to Alaves.

The 30-year-old spent last season on loan with the La Liga side and leaves after four years on Tyneside.

The centre-back has signed a three-year contract with the northern Spain side.

A United statement read: ”Florian Lejeune has completed a permanent move to Alavés - where he spent last season on loan - for an undisclosed fee.”

And the club’s official Twitter account said: “We thank Florian Lejeune for his efforts, both on and off the pitch, throughout his time at the club and wish him well for the future.”

Steve Bruce stated on Sunday his sale would see the “coffers” boosted for incoming deals.
