Florian Kupfer’s favourite tracks

Florian Kupfer
Go with the Flo… Florian Kupfer

The track I’ll be opening my next DJ set with
Greg Beato: Sadatai

Depending on where you are, this track will set the tone for the night: you’ll either leave immediately, or stay until the end.

The track I always play to rescue a dancefloor
Omar S: Motion

I’ve played this a few times to rescue a deconstructed dancefloor. I think the human feel is what brings people back together.

The track that currently gets the most rewinds
Vatican Shadow: Desert Storm (Waco)

If you’re feeling confused by the overstimulating environment that surrounds us constantly, this track is like healing. If you played this to a large audience, you’d create a moment that would last forever.

The track I think has been unfairly slept on this year
Svengalisghost: Frequency Is Time (CCCP-015)

I played this track earlier this year, and the crowd lost it: it’s a total DJ weapon. I’m still bugging out about his first release, Mind Control, on LIES. I love the mechanical aspect of it.

The track that got me out of bed this morning
Company Flow: World Of Garbage

This song makes me get up and get to work: it’s on Little Johnny From The Hospitul, one of best albums I know.

The ideal festival track
45 ACP: Ground To Ground

This track is a perfect mood-setter; it opens up the horizon. It needs to be played outside!

The track I’d play at my auntie’s wedding
Nightcrawlers: Push The Feeling On (The Dub Of Doom)

I was so obsessed with this track when I was a kid; it was one of my first obsessions that had anything to do with house music. I’m listening to it right now!

The track I’d play at sunset in Ibiza
K-Hand: Candle Lights

I need to check the vibe there; I mean, I have never been to Ibiza. But a sunset situation might make me play this sick K-Hand track: it’s one of my favourite Detroit house classics.

The track I’d play at my funeral
Shinichi Atobe: The Red Line

If I could choose, I would probably choose this, because it might dismantle any kind of negativity that could be present, and any kind of sorrow or anger. It’s positive and mellow at same time, and I think that’s what death should be – a reminder and a relief.

Florian Kupfer plays the ICA, SW1, Fri; Patterns, Brighton, 27 Nov
