Florian Kamberi's Albania bow delayed as injury and paperwork issues hit Hibs star

Hibs striker Florian Kamberi was forced to miss Albania's draw with Andorra after injury and paperwork issues.

The frontman earned his first call-up to the squad after switching allegiance from Switzerland but a hold up in paperwork meant he couldn't make his debut against Andorra on Thursday night.

And he's unlikely to play against France either after picking up an ankle knock that could see him return to Edinburgh early.

Kamberi's injury isn't believed to be serious but with the imminent arrival of Jack Ross as manager as well as important games for Hibs , the player could return to East Mains as early as monday.

Albania assistant boss Hamdi Salidi said: "The hope was that Florian would be able to play against Andorra.

"But he has a slight leg injury and also there is a delay in his documentation that would confirm his eligibility.

"Hopefully, he will recover from his injury and we will get confirmation to be able to play him against France.

"He was disappointed he couldn't play so it would be good to see him feature for us next week."

The forward had made the switch from his birth country of Switzerland to that of his parents.

He made four appearances for the Swiss U21 team but decided to represent his parent's country having failed to break into the senior side of his homeland.
