Floriade NightFest redefined for a coronavirus safe spring

Floriade NightFest has been altered to be COVID safe.

Floriade's NightFest is the latest event to be altered due to the coronavirus pandemic in a bid to support Canberra's struggling hospitality industry.

Floriade's evening event typically attracts large crowds to enjoy live performances among the blooms.

The entire festival has been turned upside down to go ahead in a COVID safe capacity, with the popular night time event to run on October 2 as NightFeast - a chance for Canberrans to indulge in the many eateries across the city.

Chief Minister Andrew Barr said it would support the hospitality industry which has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic.

Venues will be putting on unique, seasonal items for the occasion with the opportunity for Canberrans to book for an in-house experience or take it home.

Expression of Interest for venues eager to take part close tomorrow.

"NightFest will connect Canberrans through a shared celebration of Canberra's great food scene during a time when our local business need all the support they can get," Mr Barr said.

"Each local purchase goes a long way, helping not only that neighbourhood business, but also their team, suppliers, growers, families and more."
