Real Madrid president Florentino Perez may have already given Chelsea all the ammunition they need for tonight's Champions League clash.
The Blues face Zinedine Zidane's men in their semi-final first leg at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano this evening, and plenty has been said in the lead up to the game.
Both clubs were involved in the ill-fated Super League project, but Real Madrid chief Perez was the architect, erecting his plan only to see it fail in spectacular fashion.
Chelsea pulled out of the competition after protests from supporters outside Stamford Bridge and an intense reaction from the broader fanbase.
But on the back of that, Perez made a strange claim, suggesting the supporters who protested were somehow planted, telling El Larguero recently: "Chelsea fans? They were 40 people outside Stamford Bridge ... and if you want, I will tell you who took them there.
“Who took Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge are the same people who put those anti-Super League shirts on Cadiz tonight..."
Perez also blamed one of the Premier League clubs for the collapse of the competition, and while he wouldn't name the club, it was widely reported that he was referring to Chelsea.
He added: "There was one club in the English group that did not have much interest and that could infect others.
"That club, which I am not going to say their name, signed a binding agreement. I am convinced that if this project does not come out, another will come out.
"I'm sad and disappointed. We've been working for years on this, looking to see how to make things better from a football and economic point of view.
"The leagues are sacred. What we can change is the midweek games. The Champions League is obsolete. It's only interesting from the quarter-finals."
The Super League has provided a distraction for both clubs in the last week or so, but this could be useful motivation for Chelsea as they attempt to reach the Champions League final.
It shouldn't sit well with the Blues that Perez thinks that little of their fans that they can be bought or planted for the sake of a protest when, in reality, the issue was something that was and is very important to supporters.
And the very fact the Real Madrid president has named Chelsea in his complaints should give Thomas Tuchel's men an extra reason to dump his side out of the Champions League at the penultimate stage.
