Floral tributes left for schoolboy, 10, hit and killed by car

Floral tributes have been left to a schoolboy who died after being hit by a car.

Police confirmed that a 10-year-old boy died after being hit by a black Ford Puma, at around 4.30pm on Thursday, April 20. The crash took place on Abingdon Road, Walton.

The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died later this morning on Friday, April 21. Officers have confirmed that the driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquires.

Tributes have also been paid online to the boy and condolences have been shared for his family. On the ECHO Facebook page, Tracy Joan Marsden said: "Heart breaking, fly high little man. Sending condolences to all his loved ones."

Leanne Hall added: "Devastating thoughts are with the family fly high angel." While a third, Tracey Murphy commented: "Just heart breaking. Thinking of this poor family."

Detective sergeant Amy Murray said: "Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the boy who has sadly lost his life following a road collision yesterday. The family are being supported by our specially trained liaison officers, and we have launched an investigation into his death.

"I urge anyone who witnessed or has information on this incident to please contact us. Alternatively, if you were driving in the vicinity I ask that you please check your dashcam footage for anything that have captured something which will assist in the investigation the incident.

"Every piece information or footage could be vital in establishing what happened. Anyone who witnessed the collision or captured anything on CCTV or dashcam is asked to contact SCIU on (0151) 777 5747, or email SCIU@merseyside.police.uk.

"Alternatively DM @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 23000333448."
