Floral tributes left in memory of man who died after falling from bridge in Pontyclun

Flowers have been left at the bridge where a man fell to his death earlier this week.

The tributes appeared close to the spot on Cowbridge Road in Pontyclun where the 38-year-old's body was recovered from the River Ely following an incident which took place at about 8.30pm on Wednesday, June 16.

An air ambulance was sent to the scene and landed nearby, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Wales Police has since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding what happened and a 50-year-old man is assisting officers with their inquiries.

Meanwhile, specially trained officers are supporting the family of the man who died.

Chief Inspector Anthony Williams said: “We are investigating this incident in which one man has tragically lost his life.

"Our role is to piece together the events which led up to his death and also provide support to the families affected.”

The A4222 Cowbridge Road at Pontyclun was shut in both directions, between the The Ivor Arms Pub and Millfield Road, for four hours as the investigation work got underway.
