Floral tributes left at scene of Mancunian Way crash after 17-year-old girl dies

Floral tributes have been left at the scene of a fatal crash on the Mancunian Way after a 17-year-old girl died.

The teenager tragically died after a white Mercedes struck a railway bridge on the road at around 11.45pm on Monday night.

She was the front seat passenger in the car, police said.

The rear-seat passenger, an 18-year-old male, was also taken to hospital in a critical condition where he remains fighting for his life.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

In a statement issued yesterday (Tuesday), police said no arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.

Floral tributes have now been left at the scene of the crash.

The Mancunian Way was fully closed off afterwards, as a huge police, fire and ambulance response was scrambled to the scene.

Police are continuing to urge any witnesses of the crash to come forward.
