UJI, Kyoto -- A tricolored floral display of a dragon has risen along the stone steps of Kyoto Prefecture's Mimurotoji temple, a site well-known for its flowery displays. The "Rising Dragon," made from 600 pots of hydrangeas, was imbued with the desire for a swift end to the coronavirus crisis and to bring people good fortune.
Spanning about 12 meters, or 60 steps, toward the temple's main hall, the dragon's body is made up of white hydrangeas, red hydrangeas form the eyes and blue hydrangeas form the heavens through which it flies. The dragon's flowers are said to be at their peak up until the middle of this week.
