Floods hit Ayrshire as Met Office warning for rain sees towns cut off

Large parts of Ayrshire have been hit by flooding this morning as torrential rain batters the south west of Scotland.

A yellow weather warning in place from the Met Office has brought an overnight deluge, leaving many roads impassable.

Some of the worst flooding has been reported in Mossblown, with the town of Annbank cut off to bus services this morning.

Stagecoach confirmed their services were unable to pass the worst of the flooding in Mossblown.

Prestwick has also been badly hit, while residents in Troon, Cumnock, Auchinleck Ayr and Coylton are among those reporting hazardous driving conditions.

Heavy rain is expected to continue falling until later tonight.
