Flooding under King George V Bridge prompts warning from lifeguards

Shocking pictures show flooding underneath a bridge after Storm Ciara hit Glasgow yesterday.

Glasgow Humane Society shared photos of King George V Bridge and the Caledonian Railway Bridge, warning pedestrians to avoid the area.

The post reads: "These were the water levels at high tide today under the Caledonian Railway Bridge ( @NetworkRailGLC) & the George V Bridge. Please don’t attempt to walk through this as there may be debris under the water & the current is exceptionally strong."

It comes following an updated weather warning for snow and ice issued for Glasgow on Wednesday.

The city is expected to be hit with a flurry of snow from tomorrow according to the Met Office, with both weather warnings in place for wind and snow on Monday and Tuesday.

The third weather warning for snow and ice on Wednesday takes in in the majority of Scotland.

Drivers and commuters have been warned to prepare for travel disruption on the day as well as to remain safe on icy surfaces.

The Met Office statement reads: "Further snow showers are likely on Wednesday morning. These are likely to lead to further accumulations of a few cm of snow over ground above around 150 metres. Any snow accumulations over lower ground are likely to be temporary. Icy surfaces will be an additional hazard."
