Flooding chaos hits Glasgow as torrential downpours leave cars and vans submerged

Torrential downpours have caused chaos across Glasgow today.

Shocking videos and pictures circulating on social media tonight show cars and van submerged in deep puddles after hours of heavy rainfall.

Several cars and a van are currently trapped underneath a railway bridge on Bilsland Road, Glasgow after it became completely flooded.

The flooding caused major delays for drivers on the M8 tonight after a slip road became blocked.

Traffic and Control Management said: "Due to lane closures on the M8 eastbound at J14 Blochairn there is queueing on the M8 and all slips onto the M8.

"In addition the A814 Clydeside Expressway Eastbound is also queueing back to the Castlebank Street junction from the M8 onramp at North Street.

"Drivers are advised to expect delays."

Scotrail announced earlier that services running through Bridgeton were delayed or canceled due to heavy flooding on the tracks.
