Flooding causing problems for drivers across Renfrewshire

Heavy downpours are causing disruption for motorists across Renfrewshire as roads are closed due to flooding.

Lochlip Road and the A760 were closed near Lochwinnoch after the River Calder burst its banks.

Renfrewshire Council urged drivers to stay away from the area and find alternative routes.

Localised flooding also caused problems for motorists at the Linwood Toll in Ferguslie, and Lounsdale Road Paisley, with many cars forced to pass through deep water.

The Met Office had imposed a yellow flood warning covering much of the west of Scotland.

A spokesman said: “Expect flooding of a few homes and businesses, bus and train services will probably be affected with journey times taking longer.”
