Flooding causes Glasgow to Edinburgh train cancellations as rain continues

Trains running between Glasgow and Edinburgh have been hit by flooding, leading to delays and some cancellations.

Trains operating between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh, which normally stop in Shotts have had their timetables delayed or revised.

Flooding between Kirknewton and Curriehill in West Lothian is causing trains to drive slower and impacting the rush hour timetable.

So far, Scotrail have cancelled three trains on the route with the 15:26 from Edinburgh no longer running, while the 16:03 and 16:16 will no longer depart from  Glasgow Central as scheduled.

Heavy rain has been experienced through the day in Glasgow, while Edinburgh and the Lothians have been impacted by flooding.

So far Scotrail's direct route from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh Waverly is operating  as normal, with Scotrail suggesting those with the option use this service instead.

The train operators have also confirmed staff are on-site to monitor the flooding.
