Flooded railway line at Dalmarnock Station leads to Glasgow train cancellations

Glasgow trains have been disrupted as a result of a flooded railway line at Dalmarnock Station, in the East End.

The city has been inundated with heavy rain throughout today (Sunday), leading to travel woes on the roads. In the main, the train network appears to have coped quite well, however Glasgow Central low level services have now been affected.

ScotRail confirmed shortly before 8pm this evening: "The line through Dalmarnock is currently flooded, preventing us from running trains. Staff from Network Rail are working to clear the floodwater just now.

"This is affecting all services via Glasgow Central Low Level. If it's an option for you, our services from the High Level platforms at Glasgow Central and via Queen St Low Level are unaffected.

Meanwhile, ScotRail Tweeted a photo of the flooding at the station, with the floodwater seen above the level of the tracks.

ScotRail commented: "For safety reasons, we can't run trains through floodwater which is above the top of the rails."

National Rail confirmed "disruption is expected until the end of the day", adding: "Heavy rain flooding the railway between Dalmarnock and Rutherglen is causing disruption to trains between these stations.

"Trains between Glasgow Central and Rutherglen may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised."
