Flood warnings remain in place after rivers burst their banks - with more rain forecast

Eleven flood warnings remain in place across Perthshire after heavy rain saw rivers burst their banks over the weekend.

A general flood alert also remains in place across Tayside while a yellow weather warning for rain is in place for Tuesday and Wednesday.

And the train line between Perth and Pitlochry remains shut due to safety concerns, with flooding preventing inspections along the line.

Warnings remain in place along the Tay between Kenmore and Jubilee Bridge.

The River Isla has a warnings in place between Bridge of Ruthven and Bridge of Isla, while the River Earn has warnings in place for almost its entire journey from Crieff to the Tay.

However, flood warnings in Perth have now been removed and are no longer in place.

Flood gates in Perth adjacent to the river in the Harbour, Shore Road Tay Street, North Inch and North Muirton area were closed as a precaution but the rising water was still able to breech the bank at several locations.

Although Monday is likely to be dry and sunny, rain will return on Tuesday.

A yellow weather warning covering much of Perthshire has been issued from midnight on Tuesday until 6pm on Wednesday.

The Met Office says spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions while homes and businesses could be flooded and some communities could be cut off by flooded roads.

Power cuts are possible while delays and cancellations to bus and rail services as also possible.
