- Eastern Australia has experienced its heaviest snowfall in decades, causing widespread floods, stranded vehicles, and power cuts.
- Northern New South Wales received up to 40cm of snow, the most since the mid-1980s, and Queensland saw snow for the first time in 10 years.
- Miriam Bradbury, a meteorologist at Australia's Bureau of Meteorology, said the weather phenomenon was “unusual” because of the volume and widespread nature of the snow.
- The New South Wales State Emergency Service responded to over 1,455 incidents, including more than 100 stranded vehicles and damaged buildings.
- Tens of thousands of homes were left without power, and several major flood warnings were issued across the affected regions.
