Flood warning is issued for parts of Ayrshire with one town warned over possible 'impacts'

A flood warning has been issued this morning for parts of Ayr to Troon.

Weather forecasters say that a combination of high tides and prevailing weather conditions means that flooding from the sea may affect low lying land, roads and properties along the coastline from Ayr to Troon.

A SEPA spokesperson said: “Wave overtopping may affect low lying parts of Prestwick. Flooding impacts are expected around the times of high tide between 3pm and 6pm today and 1am and 3am on Friday.

“Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.”

Advice and information is also available through Floodline on 0345 9881188.

The Floodline quick dial number for this area is 24207.
