Flood warning for West Lothian after heavy rain

A yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for West Lothian.

The Met office warning came into force in the early hours of this morning and will cover the rest of today and most of tomorrow.

The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) also issued a flood alert for the Lothians and Edinburgh.

The warning for heavy rain and the possibility of flooding is in place until 6pm tonight and from 3am tomorrow until 3pm.

SEPA said: "A flood alert has been issued for Edinburgh and Lothians.

"Heavy rain is forecast to affect this area into Thursday.

"This could lead to flooding impacts from surface water.

"Typical impacts could include flooding of low-lying land and roads, and disruption to travel."
