Flood warning for Portishead and Portbury Dock

A flood warning has been issued for the Somerset coast line including the area around Portishead and Portbury Dock.

The warning has been in place since 9:45pm on Sunday 9Sept 1) evening but is expected to be lifted by morning.

It is predicted, on a post on The Met Office website, that spring tides will peak tonight.

Flooding to roads and properties is expected.

The worst effected areas in our region will be the coastline between Portishead Point and Avonmouth including Woodlands Road, Portishead Ashlands Nature Reserve and the Royal Portbury Dock.

Floods are also expected in the Porlock Weir area of Somerset.

A post on the Government's flood wanring information service says: "We are closely monitoring the situation and have incident response staff out checking defences and conditions on the ground."

Tomorrow we can expect dry weather across the south west with some sunny spells.

And it looks to stay that way for the rest of the week with some sunshine, cloud and chilly nights until the weekend.
