Flood victim begs Prince Charles to help get home back ahead of brain surgery

A vulnerable flood victim is begging Prince Charles for help to get back home – as insurers delay repairing her devastated bungalow.

Desperate Patricia Meadows, 67, who is waiting for a brain op, has been living in a B&B for seven weeks since filthy floodwater engulfed her home.

Patricia weeps as she looks at the stinking mould on the walls at her home

in the village of Tickhill, South yorks. In a message to the Prince of Wales, who is visiting victims today, she pleads: “Please help me to return to my home safely.”

She says her claim with royal Sun Alliance has still not been validated.

Floorboards which should have been ripped out to protect the property from

mould have been left to rot, she said. “Its’ not the flood that’s damaged things it’s the insurance company,” she added.

“Everything has been contaminated by duck pond water full of excrement.

“This has had a direct affect on my health, which has never been so bad.”

Tomorrow Prince Charles is due to visit nearby flood-hit Fishlake where 1,200 people were evacuated when a month’s rain fell in 24 hours on November 8.

Many are complaining about insurers.

Pat said hers were quibbling over replacing plaster, rusty radiators, the bathroom and the kitchen.

RSA said: “We are still agreeing works with Mrs Meadows. We apologise for the delay in removing items.”
