Flood relief operations, aid should not be delayed, says Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday directed officials to ensure that flood relief operations are not delayed in affected areas. Presiding over a high-level meeting, he said all due assistance should be provided to people affected by floods within 24 hours.

The CM also ordered officials to keep constant eye on the level of rivers and make preparations for flood control. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and disaster management teams have been kept on high alert, said a government spokesperson.

Over 66 teams, including NDRF, SDRF and PAC have been deployed in 42 districts to tackle floods. The government has deployed 4,835 boats and 949 medical teams, and has set up while 1,297 flood posts and 1,090 animal relief camps.

“Over 78,285 dry ration kits have been distributed till now, including 5,123 in the last 24 hours,” the spokesperson said.

The government has distributed over 3.6 lakh lunch packets to the affected people till now. Around 23,117 lunch packets have been distributed in the last 24 hours, he added.

The government has deployed NDRF teams in Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Bahraich, Shravasti, Siddharth Nagar, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Ballia and Varanasi, while 18 SDRF teams have been deployed in Moradabad, Agra, Bareilly, Balrampur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Ballia, Varanasi and Maharajganj.
