Flood defences remain in place across Dublin's coasts as high tides continue in aftermath of Storm Brendan

Flood defences remain in place in parts of Dublin in the aftermath of Storm Brendan.

High tides are expected along the coast this afternoon and as a result, the defences and closure of car parks will remain until tomorrow.

The car parks will remain closed in Clontarf, Sandymount and along the River Dodder in Ballsbridge.

Dublin City Council have said that current plans are to remove the closures tomorrow but the situation will continued to be monitored over the coming days.

They said: "There is a further high tide predicted for Wednesday 15 January, 2020 at 3 pm. As a result the flood defences and car parks will remain closed at Clontarf, Sandymount and along the tidal reaches of the River Dodder.

"These will be removed on Thursday 16 January.

"Dublin City Council will continue to monitor and take necessary action over the coming days."
