Glasgow weather: Flood alert issued as rail services cancelled amid heavy rain

A flood alert has been issued for Glasgow as the city is hit with heavy rain.

Rail services are also facing cancellation, with flooding at Hartwood station leading to the suspension of services from Glasgow Central to Edinburgh.

ScotRail confirmed the cancellation on Twitter, stating: "We've had reports of flooding at Hartwood, services between Glasgow and Edinburgh via Shotts may be cancelled, delayed or revised."

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has issued the flood alert for the West Central Scotland region throughout Tuesday.

The agency said: "From late afternoon Monday and through Tuesday there is a risk of flooding from surface water and small watercourses. Most at risk are known trouble spots on the road network, and possibly individual properties.

"Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.

"Advice and information is also available through Floodline on 0345 9881188."
