Flood alert issued for Glasgow

A flood alert has been issued for Glasgow with a further band of heavy rain expected over the next 24 hours.

The city has been soaked throughout Saturday ahead of what's predicted to be a similarly wet Sunday.

As a result, the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) have confirmed a flood alert is in place for much of west central Scotland.

They say: "River levels are expected to rise throughout the region due to heavy rain from Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

"Surface water flooding may also occur during periods of heavy rain.

"Localised flooding affecting low-lying land, roads and isolated properties, and disruption to travel, is possible.

"Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.

"Advice and information is also available through Floodline on 0345 9881188.

"This flood alert is now in force until further notice."
