The Santa Cruz water lilies, originally from South America, bloom Saturday at Jindai Botanical Gardens in Chofu, Tokyo. The flowering is expected to remain at its peak through around the end of this month. An event scheduled at the gardens for Friday and Saturday will allow children 30 kilograms or less to experience standing on the giant lily pads, which grow up to 1.5 meters in diameter.
