Floating cinema at Albert Dock cancelled because of strong winds

Four festive cinema screenings at the floating cinema on the Albert Dock have been cancelled.

Tonight's showing of Home Alone and Sunday's screenings of Elf, Polar Express and Love Actually have all been cancelled.

Organisers shared the sad news on their Facebook page, after weather conditions made it unsafe to screen the films.

The statement said: "URGENT NEWS. We have been monitoring the weather down the docks all day and unfortunately due to worsening weather the floating cinema screening will not be going ahead tonight or on Sunday due to strong winds.

The screenings include Casper, Hocus Pocus and Psycho (Royal Albert Dock)

"Please note other screenings remain unaffected for now but we will keep you posted.

"Our guests' safety is always our priority but we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

"All ticket holders will be fully refunded automatically, you can expect to see it in your bank a few days from now."

Three films are due to be shown on Saturday, including Polar Express, The Grinch and Die Hard as usual.

But ticket-holders are encouraged to check before they head out.
