People from a West Lothian village proved it’s the little things that count when they helped Flora Campbell celebrate her 101st birthday.
Flora, known as Flo, is well know in Fauldhouse and her friends wanted to make sure her birthday last Thursday was special despite the lockdown.
Last year her 100th birthday was marked with her first-ever bike ride thanks to Fauldhouse Development Trust, and this year the charity again made sure her birthday was a day to remember.
Ann Holloway, Timebank Co-ordinator with Fauldhouse Community Development Trust, explained: “It wasn’t quite the same celebration we had hoped for her, especially after her 100th last year.
“Then our Timebank coordinator organised a visit from the West Lothian Courier photographer, telegram from The Queen, visit from the Skills Centre garden team, a party with friends and family and of course her first ever bike ride on our Cycling Without Age Scotland Fauldhouse trishaw.
“However, we did manage to say happy birthday to Flo in a different safe, social distance way.”
Ann said volunteer, Neil Mcivor Snr made all this possible as he delivers meals to Flo each day from Eastfield Development Centre.
She continued: “Fauldhouse and Breich Valley Community Development Trust added a wee note in her food bag, added some of her favourite biscuits and gave her a new book to read, while Neil brightened up her day with his smile, a wee chat, a card and some beautiful flowers.
“It’s the little things that make a difference. Happy 101st birthday Flo!”
