Flights to East Midlands Airport delayed - with one diverted - because of thunderstorms

Flights to East Midlands Airport have been delayed - with one diverted - because of bad weather in London.

Four inbound flights were told to hold around London Stansted Airport because of thunderstorms earlier on Monday afternoon (August 19).

Three have since returned to East Midlands.

However, a TUI flight from Madeira, Portugal, had to divert to Doncaster Sheffield Airport to refuel.

It was due originally due to arrive at East Midlands at 2.30pm.

A spokesman for East Midlands said it was flying back from Doncaster.
