Flights cancelled at Scottish airport amid urgent runway repairs

A NUMBER of late night flights at Aberdeen Airport have been diverted or cancelled due to urgent repairs being carried out.

Flights at the airport were affected after around 8pm on Wednesday following an issue on the main runway, according to the Press and Journal.

Several flights arriving in Aberdeen were reportedly forced to divert to Edinburgh, along with some departures being cancelled.

The Scottish airline Loganair had to cancel its flights from Sumburgh and Manchester along with Eastern Airways and other flight operators due to the incident.

A spokesperson for AGS Airports, the firm that operates Aberdeen Airport, confirmed to the Press and Journal that they had carried out a runway inspection in which a “minor repair” was made.

The spokesperson added the repair took around an hour to carry out, adding that diverted flights would be routed back to land at Aberdeen.
