Flights and holidays to Spain and Portugal cancelled until early 2021 say Jet2

Tour operator Jet2.com and Jet2 Holidays have announced all their flights and breaks to Spain and Portugal will now be axed until next year.

The travel firm has confirmed that trips to the popular holiday destinations will now be scrapped for 2020 due to the ongoing uncertainty over travel during the coronavirus pandemic - and the current government guidelines advising against non-essential travel to the two countries.

Jet2 have now revealed flights and holidays to Malaga and Alicante in Spain will now be suspended until February 10, 2021.

While holidays and flights to the Algarve in Portugal will be suspended from November 1 until February 10.

However the airline has confirmed they will continue to operate a revised schedule of flights to and from Portugal up to and including October 31.

The company says it is now in the process of contacting those who will be affected by the changes, and that customers who are affected by the cancellations will be refunded automatically.

However travellers that want to rebook their holiday will be offered a £100 incentive towards a new trip departing up until March 31, 2021.

While those who were due to fly before October 31 are able to rebook their trip with no admin fees.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Jet2 and Jet2 Holidays said: "Due to the ongoing uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the latest government travel advice, we have taken the decision to extend the suspension of flights and holidays to Malaga, Alicante and Faro (The Algarve).

"Flights and holidays to Faro are suspended from November 1 up to and including February 1, 2021 and we are continuing to operate a revised flying programme for flight-only customers up to and including October 31.  For customers due to travel up to and including October 31 and who no longer wish to do so, we are offering them the option to rebook with no admin fee.

"We will be automatically cancelling affected bookings with a full refund.

"We would like to remind affected customers that they do not need to contact us as we will be in touch.  We would also like to thank customers for their continued patience and understanding."
