Searches for flights to destinations included on the UK Government green list for travel surged as soon as the categories were announced.
It seems holidaymakers spent the weekend planning getaways, as travel search engine KAYAK reported the Faroe Islands saw the biggest spike, followed by Portugal and Iceland.
Prices are starting to increase with Portugal fares up nearly 28 per cent and Iceland up about 43 per cent when compared to one month ago. Despite being the most searched for destination, prices for the Faroe Islands are only up four per cent.
Flights are still more expensive than Portugal however, at about £278.46 for the Faroe Islands compared to approximately £163.70 for Portugal flights.
Where to find great deals
Many users were investigating long haul destinations with searches for New Zealand up 406 per cent and Australia rising 269 per cent since last month.
Australia has increased in price by 26 per cent to approximately £1,400.79 and New Zealand by 13 per cent to around £1,098.50.
With only a limited number of countries on the green list, demand is high for these destinations, meaning flight prices should continue to rise.
