Flights from key tourist areas in Switzerland have been hiked by nearly 200 per cent in less than a week.
The hikes follow fears the country could be added to the UK's quarantine list later this week after a sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases.
One-way flights from key tourist cities such as Zurich and Geneva have soared to more than £500 per ticket, according to Google Flights, in anticipation of holidaying Brits looking to beat the quarantine restrictions, if they're imposed.
A seat on the last direct flight from Zurich to London on Friday, ahead of what would be a Saturday 4am quarantine cut off, will set you back £517.
Flights from Lugano have also increased by 184 per cent this week, from £75 to £251.
A seat on one of the last flights from Geneva to London on Friday will set you back £540 if you wish to beat the quarantine restrictions.
The same flight the following morning would cost just £190, according to Google.
A warning on the Google flight checking service points out that prices from Geneva to London usually cost around £20 to £60 one-way.
The cheapest flight available, with easyJet on Friday, starts at £85.
Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps, had previously warned any country which surpasses more than 20 cases per 100,000 people would be removed from the quarantine free air bridge between them and the UK.
Since the list was unveiled back in July, Croatia, Austria, Trinidad & Tobago, Spain and France are just some of the countries to be re-added, causing people to flee their holidays in an attempt to avoid a 14-day self-isolation period.
Over the last week, Switzerland has recorded 19.8 cases per 100,000 people.
