Flight from Edinburgh Airport to Spain same price as a Boots meal deal

At Edinburgh Live we have been casually browsing the flight comparison sites and our eyes jumped out of our heads when we saw the cheapest flight from Edinburgh Airport to Spain.

You know the feeling when you're on your lunch break, it's raining, maybe a potential thunderstorm and you just want to jet off somewhere sunny? Well this might just push you over the edge and make you book a flight.

And with this price, it is tempting to use that lunch money for a flight to sunny Barcelona.

Earlier, Edinburgh Live reported that we found a flight cheaper than a train from Edinburgh to Glasgow but now for the even tighter purses, we spotted a flight at the same price as a Boots meal deal.

Eager holidaymakers can take off from Edinburgh Airport to Barcelona with Ryanair for just £3.99, at the time of writing.

The two hour and 40 minute flight leaves Scotland's capital at 7.10am and lands in Barcelona at 10.50, making it cheaper than a McDonald's Big Mac Meal and a fraction of the cost of a £13.50 train ticket to Glasgow.

In fact- it costs more to get to Edinburgh Airport by bus from the city centre that it is to fly to Spain with a single bus ticket coming in at £4.50 and return at £7.50.

But is this just too good to be true?

Well the £3.99 flight from Edinburgh to Barcelona does not include any luggage. For hand luggage, travellers will have to pay £34 and checked baggage would set you back £49.99.

But there has been one man who has avoided luggage charges by creating a thrifty jacket with massive pockets - if you're really strapped for cash.

While Nicola Sturgeon is advising Scots not to go on holiday abroad this year, Spain does offer quarantine free travel, as long as they provide a negative Covid test (PCR, TMA, LAMP or NEAR) taken within 72 hours of arrival, or proof of full vaccination at least 14 days prior before gaining entry to the country.

Spain will also accept an NHS Covid Pass as proof of vaccination status.

As long as these tests prove negative, travellers do not have to quarantine on arrival to Spain.

On return to Scotland, a PCR test must be taken within 2 days before in order to board the plane back the UK.

Fully vaccinated people don't have to isolate but those who have not had two doses will have to quarantine for 10 days and take a PCR test on day two and day eight.
